Although some of you may have heard me do some whining about exhibit baby-sitting duty at the conference, it was a choice that I do not regret. I did miss some wonderful sessions, but I am getting caught up with the handouts on the conference web site. I also have this wonderful collage of impressions of the sessions that I got when I would ask people to tell me their favorite thing about the conference. Other peoples accounts of an event are often as interesting to me as the events themselves.
I especially want to get in a few thanks to folks who really brightened up my conference:
I still need to get in and clean up some of the pictures on Flickr, add some descriptions, remove the really poor ones, and fill in some names. Maybe I will have a chance to do that next week when I head to lovely Dublin, Ohio to spend some time with other WebJunction community partners playing in the new WJ sandbox.
First I must correct my error regarding bacon as bookmark. There is another VT Librarian who reported the use of pork products for a bookmark. Stephanie Chase of the Stowe Free Library who has found “cooked bacon” inside of a book. She notes however that the best bookmark to find Is money.
After a lovely walk on the Burlington waterfront, I arrived back at the hotel in time to join the “still standing” team for the pub trivia event. Unfortunately we were not the winning team. That honor went to the “Bat Girls.”

Now I am off to see if I can get some pics of actual sessions during my brief escape from the exhibit hall.
Likely the most repeated phrase to come out of the morning keynote by the Unshelved guys. Turns out that DOL childrens’ consultant Grace Greene was the only one able raise her hand to signify that , yes, she had encountered bacon used as a bookmark.
As much as I would have enjoyed the keynote, I was busy here in the exhibit hall getting my gadgets lined up. We now have our Flickr group for adding attendees pics from the conference and we are encouraging tagging with VLC2008
So far we have a couple of members in the group and I keep encouraging folks to come on by so I can upload their photos. Looking forward to seeing lots of the goings on beyond my little exhibit.
Here we are at the library conference in the exhbit hall, live-blogging more or less, at least as long as the open wifi I jumped on to continues to work. We’re supposed to get hard-wired, but no sign of a technician yet.
We will keep checking in with you as the day goes along. Keep an eye on Flickr for the tag VLC2008. I hope to be uploading pics soon. For now we, go with out question of the day: The future of library gal?
