The MaintainIT Project is happy to announce the latest Cookbook! “Planning for Success” http://www.maintainitproject.org/cookbooks/planning-for-success
It’s a free online resource with current ideas and best practices for planning, building, and managing your library’s computer technology. Librarians around the country have contributed their knowledge on topics ranging from security solutions and strategic maintenance practices to community building experiences involving Web 2.0 tools and vital partnerships. And the Cookbook is FREE.
Cookbook topics include:
Many people contributed to all three Cookbooks. These resources reflect the impressive work you all do, and we’re so happy to share them with everyone.

A gem of a document was posted yesterday to TechSoup, a great website for those who support public access computers.
For a quick summary of “the ins and outs of measuring the hidden costs and values of adopting new technology”, take a look at “Nonprofit Technology and Total Cost of Ownership”, http://www.techsoup.org/learningcenter/techplan/page10908.cfm.
I imagine this was posted in preparation for the free MaintainIT webinar on this topic, scheduled for tomorrow, 11/13, from 1-2pm Central. To participate in the webinar, visit http://tinyurl.com/5con7m. According to the MaintainIT website, “If you can’t attend a webinar, but are interested in receiving the content, register for it. After it’s over, we will then automatically send you a link to the archived version.”
Mary Ann Van Cura, State Library Services, provided this info today:
