Looking for support in assisting the unemployed, job seekers, and small business developers? If you read the WebJunction Crossroads newsletter for December 2010, you may have discovered that MELSA is collaborating with WebJunction to provide a series of national webinars for the library community on Jobs and Small Business. State Library Services is pleased that the connections MELSA made as one of its Minnesota representatives to the 2010 Project Compass Summit have led to this excellent opportunity.
Here are the details, excerpted from Crossroads.
Jobs and Small Business Webinar Series
Starting in January and extending through May, WebJunction will be hosting a series of webinars produced by MELSA, the Metropolitan Library Service Agency in Minnesota on topics related to serving the workforce in your community:
- Understanding Unemployment Insurance and Its Impact On Your Customers. One simple change in library hours can have an unexpected impact on a large number of library patrons: Unemployment Insurance (UI) customers. On January 27, [1-2pm CDT] we will be joined by an Unemployment Insurance Specialist from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, who will explain out how the service works. In addition, Alice Neve, Public Service Manager at St. Paul Public Library, will describe how your library can support UI customers. Using her library as an example, she will describe how to collaborate with local UI offices, analyze challenges and implement solutions throughout your library system.
