This fall, the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC) is presenting a series of Road Shows designed to inform Hoosiers – especially those in local government – how the IndianaMap legislation is changing GIS across the state. The legislation, enacted last year, mandates the creation of a single, statewide, digital map for Indiana. Each one-day Road Show will address what this means for local government. Specific topics will include data sharing between different levels of government, funding opportunities, and future IndianaMap initiatives.

IndianaMap Road Show Schedule:
Sellersburg – Thursday, October 9, 2008
Portage – Wednesday, October 15, 2008
Terre Haute – Tuesday, October 21, 2008
Bloomington – Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Warsaw – Thursday, November 13, 2008
Muncie – Tuesday, November 18, 2008
Ferdinand – Thursday, December 4, 2008

More information on events in Evansville and Indianapolis will be available soon.

The Road Shows are free, and lunch will be provided free of charge. To register or for more information visit www.igic.org.

About the IndianaMap:
The IndianaMap is a single statewide map for Indiana. It includes everything that goes into making that map a reality—planning, partnerships, funding, coordination, and ways to make it available to people who need it. The IndianaMap embraces the role of geographic information, technologies and innovative institutional agreements to enable improved government service to citizens, and an enhanced ability for citizens to stay informed and to engage in the democratic process.

THIRD-ANNUAL INDIANA VISION EXPO COMING 9/27/08

Join the Indiana Talking Book and Braille Library at the Indiana State Library in Indianapolis on Saturday, September 27 from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. (EDT) for the 2008 Indiana Vision Expo.

The purpose of the Indiana Vision Expo is to connect people with vision loss, as well as their families, to new technologies and services. Last year over 600 people attended the Indiana Vision Expo, making it the largest low vision convention in the Midwest.

The 2008 Expo will include more products and service information, and several new features designed to enhance the experience for attendees. This year, over 30 exhibitors will discuss their services and demonstrate the latest low vision technologies.

A complete schedule of events and presentations, as well as a listing of participating vendors is available at www.indianavisionexpo.org. For more information, contact Carole Rose, Expo Coordinator, at (800) 622-4970 or crose@library.IN.gov
