Speak Up: Shape the Future of Illinois Library System Services

The Illinois State Library has convened a committee to review and revise the Standards for the Services of Illinois Multitype Library Systems. Your input is crucial to shaping the future of multitype library systems in Illinois; the standards will impact our service to you.

The standards are the basis on which the systems receive funding. Take a few moments to read the Resource Sharing Standards and Professional Development and Consulting Standards, give serious thought to the implications for the services your library provides, and add your comments to WebJunction Illinois (WJIL) for the committee to consider. If you do not have an account on WJIL, you will need to create one.

To make commenting easier, NSLS has created a step-by-step tutorial for their members. Please feel free to use it. The committee will review comments at the June 23 meeting.

Library System Standards Committee Update

As part of its work in revising the existing Standards for the Services of Illinois Multitype Library Systems, the Library System Standards Committee has prepared a draft of Professional Development & Consulting standards for Library Systems and System members. Your comments are encouraged. The committee will review the comments at its meeting on February 17, 2009. The document is available on WebJunction Illinois.

Revision of Library System Standards and Rules – Comments

A revision of the Standards for the Services of Illinois Multitype Library Systems is underway and input from the library community is an important part of the process. The administrative rules for the library systems will also be revised. The Library System Standards committee requests your comments and discussion on the documents they have posted on WJIL.

You can join the discussion in two ways:
