WorldShare Watch

Training sessions for the new WorldShare ILL will be delivered by Webex Webinars directly from the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). Training includes three separate Webinars covering the following topics:

  • WorldShare ILL Migration: Overview for Illinois Libraries (1 hour)
  • WorldShare ILL Borrowing (2 hours)
  • WorldShare ILL Lending (2 hours)

Libraries are encouraged to attend all three sessions. They will be recorded so that staff can view them at a later date as a review of the information.

All  WorldShare WebEx Webinars have been entered into the Library Learning (L2) database at http://www.librarylearning.info/tags/?WSILL. The first class is May 30. Although classes have been scheduled to coordinate training for Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) and Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) members, these classes are also open to all other Illinois libraries that use OCLC for interlibrary loan. Pick the series of classes that best fit your schedule.

New Annual Library Certification Process

The Illinois State Library is creating a new website where all regional library system member libraries will complete a mandatory annual online library certification. Membership in a library system is acknowledged by Administrative Rule as either developmental or full, and membership is required to qualify for both system services and programs/services offered by the State Library, such as grants. Both Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) and Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) have made completion of the annual certification a condition of system membership.

The certification will begin January 2 and will be open through March 31, 2013. WebJunction Illinois will be providing more information regarding the new online certification as it becomes available.

Please contact Pat Boze at pboze@ilsos.net or 217-782-1891 if you have questions.

Illinois Library Delivery System Code Changes

On May 1, the Illinois Library Delivery System (ILDS) will change the three-letter codes for the former regional library systems. The new codes are location based, rather than specific to  prior system designations. New Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) Codes:

New Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) Codes:
