Literacy Spotlight: Learning Center/House of Connections

This week we shine the spotlight on The Learning Center/House of Connections in Chicago. At age 20 and just out jail, this student was hesitant to go back to school. One of his friends encouraged him to go to The Learning Center because “No one judges you”.

He went, and now at age 24, this student has obtained his GED and will start college. He hopes to write plays and come back to Chicago to open a center where poets and playwrights, musicians and artists can perform their works for free to the public.
