Thanks to the Illinois State Library, the Illinois Regional Library Systems, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, LibraryU, the online learning resource for Library staff, has remained free for more than 5 years. It is now time to find a more sustainable home for the content and fold it in with other Illinois Library Community online continuing education opportunities.
Select LibraryU modules will be transitioning to the WebJunction Course Catalog over the next few months starting in October, 2008. We would like to thank all who have participated in, and supported the efforts of this wonderful online learning project for Library staff. Since the inception of LibraryU as a cooperative grant project in Illinois, the number of registered users has grown from 47 to over 11,000 currently.
Registered users of WebJunction Illinois will be able to access select LibraryU content for free through the WJIL Course Catalog starting later in October. Continue to keep an eye on the Course Catalog and this blog for announcements.
For additional information see the LibraryU Course Transition post.
