ISL at ILA Annual Conference

The State Library is proud to be taking part next week at the Illinois Library Association’s annual conference at Navy Pier in Chicago.

Here’s where you’ll find us during the three-day event:

Wednesday September 24

9:00-10:30 a.m. Andrew Bullen will speak on digitizing local history materials

9:30-10:30 a.m. Glenna Jones, daughter of Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White, will join ISL Director Anne Craig in presenting ceremonial checks to this year’s LSTA grant recipients

11am Glenna Jones will make welcoming remarks at the conference Opening General Session

2-3 p.m. Blaine Redemer will speak on preservation of Route 66 related materials at the ISL

3:30-5 pm Natalie Tagge will moderate a session on the Ask Away virtual reference program

3:30-5 p.m. Vandella Brown will moderate a discussion at the annual DiversiTea!

Thursday September 25

9-10:30 a.m. Natalie Tagge will moderate the third annual Ask Away Illinois users group meeting

9-10:30 a.m. Anne Craig will discuss the ISL 2008-2011 Strategic Plan

12:30-2 p.m. Natalie Tagge will host a poster session on the Ask Away virtual reference program

2-3:30 p.m. Anne Craig will moderate a session entitled “Does Cataloging Have
Value in These Times? The Changing Bibliographic Universe and Its Implications for Next Generation Cataloging”

2-3:30 pm. Blaine Redemer will moderate and speak at a session on weeding reference collections

4:45-5:30 pm. Awards presentation at which Sharon Ruda receives the ILA Librarian of the Year award; Anne Craig presents Alexander Skrzypek Award

Friday September 26

9-10:30 a.m. Anne Craig will make remarks at OCLC breakfast

9-10:30 a.m. Vandella Brown will moderate a session on “Effective Leadership” as discussed during the annual Synergy Library Leadership Initiative

9-10:30 a.m. Blaine Redemer will participate in a Reference Services Forum
