Fundraising 101: Capital Campaigns, ALS (Wimba Archive)

By WJIL Project Team | July 24th, 2008 | Comment?

Description

  • Is your library considering building or expanding? Are you looking at the possibility of having to raise major funds from private donations? The “capital campaign” has a long history in American philanthropy as a structured approach to seeking major gifts from the community. This workshop covers the process of conducting a library capital campaign, from initial planning, to feasibility study to conducting the campaign itself. Some questions addressed in this archive include:1. How much can you raise?
    2. Who will donate to a library capital campaign?
    3. How will we know if we are ready?
    4. Should we hire a consultant?
    5. How much will a campaign cost?

Presenter/Trainer

  • John Howard is currently Special Projects Coordinator for the Innovation Department at ALS. He has over 15 years in professional fund-raising and has conducted multiple successful capital campaigns.
