SOS: Safety on the Streets grant allowed the Homer Township Public Library to assist patrons with the needed information, education and training on issues relating to personal and community safety. The library held safety related programs for every age group.
Children participated in the We Care: Kid’s Self Defense, Child ID, and Stranger Danger. Preteens and teenagers rushed to register for the Babysitting classes. Teenagers attended sessions such as Dear Lisa: Dating Violence, Teen Self Defense, CPR, and First Aid. Adults attended sessions on Fire Safety, Fight like a Girl, Internet Safety, CPR, and First Aid.
Through the SOS: Safety on the Streets initiative, the library was able to expand services and go beyond the basics in providing quality programming and encouraging residents to turn to the library for quality information. SOS: Safety on the Streets is featured at YouTube.
