The Rolling Prairie Library System and the Alliance Library System present a free statewide Illinois Plinkit Conference on Thursday, May 1, 2008, 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Library, the Public Library of Springfield, 326 South 7th Street, Springfield, Illinois.

Why you should come? 

If your library needs or wants a dynamic website without the expense of an IT staff to maintain it, all without knowing html, you should come.  If you can copy and past from a word-processing program, you can do Plinkit.  Plus you can update the website at anytime from any location with Internet access, from home or on the road.

What is Plinkit? 

The Illinois Plinkit Project is a collaborative statewide effort, tied to a multi-state effort and an international open-source software community, that makes it easy and affordable for small libraries of all types to create dynamic, content-rich, professional looking, and easy-to-maintain websites.

Who Should Attend? 

Everyone is welcome to attend, especially representatives from libraries that currently are or are considering using
Plinkit to create professional, easy-to-maintain, open-source websites. 

You Will Learn:  

• How to get started using Plinkit
• The big picture of what’s happening with Plinkit across Illinois, as well as in Oregon, Colorado, and Texas
• Emerging best practices from Illinois libraries that are already using Plinkit
• Upcoming updates and improvements to the Plinkit software, which is powered by Plone, an international open-source software community 
• Long-term strategies and costs for your library
