Plan to become involved in the Illinois Veterans’ History Project and host a “Kick-off Program” in your community. Mid-Illinois Talking Book Center offers a one-hour program complete with video presentation, trivia game, and most importantly, interactive segments designed for intergenerational learning.
PBS TV stations have willingly participated in these presentations, as well as a local veteran’s history museum. Other local partners are welcome to join the one-hour presentation. The program is suitable for youth and librarians are encouraged to invite school classes or summer reading participants to the program. The intergenerational element greatly increases participant satisfaction and learning.
To find out more about the Illinois Veteran’s History Project watch “A Salute to Veterans” on the WebJunction Illinois site. The first 20 libraries that schedule the program receive the on-site program delivered by MITBC staff, along with free promotional materials and prizes. Schedule your local program today at www.mitbc.org/salute.
Kick-off programs already scheduled include April 16 at Peoria Public Library and June 14 at Bloomington Public Library.
