One of the features on WebJunction Illinois is the Digital Imaging Spotlight where we periodically highlight a project funded by the Illinois State Library Digital Imaging grants. Our current spotlight is on the Flora Public Library, who received $14,000 to preserve the Charles Overstreet collection of WWII photos. Since the digital collection was completed, the library has received several inquiries, including one from the daughter of one of Mr. Overstreet’s army buddies that was featured in some of the photos. They also received email from a man in Germany that found a photo of a house that some of his family had lived in. They had to evacuate it during the war. Donna Corry, Director of the Flora Public Library says “He was thrilled to get the photos.”
