Interlibrary Loan Report for FY2011

The annual report on interlibrary loan activity, Connecticut Interlibrary Loan Activity, Academic and Special Libraries, July 2010 – June 2011, is now available as a PDF. Thanks go out to all the academic and special libraries that reported their ILL activity this year.

Please note that public libraries are not included in this year’s report. Instead they will be submitting their ILL statistics on the Annual Report/Survey due on November 15 and these figures will be reported in the Statistical Profile.

The Connecticut State Library compiles Interlibrary Loan statistics from academic, special, and public libraries. Previously we did this on a monthly basis, but for FY2011 we are just asking libraries to provide year-end statistics.

Academic and special libraries should use this report form.

Public libraries will report their ILL statistics on the Annual Report and Application for State Aid. You may have used this worksheet we provided for tabulating your monthly reports. If so, please make sure that the person who completes the Annual Report gets these figures. The Annual Report isn’t due until November. Thanks!

ILL Activity Keeps Climbing

Interlibrary Loan activity in Connecticut libraries continued to increase in FY2010. Filled ILL requests increased 15% over the previous year. CT libraries filled 731,243 ILL requests in FY2010, which is more than double the number of ILLs filled just five years ago. These numbers are based on the recently released report, Connecticut Interlibrary Loan Activity, July 2009 – June 2010, available on WebJunction CT.

ILL Statistics Deadline Approaching

Friday, July 30 is the deadline for libraries to report their Interlibrary Loans statistics for FY 2010 to the State Library. If your library hasn’t already done so, please provide your ILL totals by going to this Survey Form. Help us determine if Connecticut’s ILL figures for FY2010 have continued the upward trend in resource sharing.

ILL Statistics Due This Month

Academic, Public, and Special libraries have until Friday, July 30 to submit their Interlibrary Loan Statistics to the State Library for Fiscal Year 2010. Go to this Survey Monkey report form to complete your year’s statistics.

Those libraries who have submitted monthly reports should complete the year’s months. If you have forgotten whether you have submitted a month or not, you may resubmit it. Those libraries who planned to submit a year-end report only may do so now at the same Survey Monkey report form.

A Reminder: We will not be accepting monthly ILL reports for Fiscal Year 2011. Instead, academic and special libraries will submit year-end reports using the Survey Monkey report form. Public libraries will be submitting their reports in the Annual Report and Application for State Aid. ILL Statistics Submission to Change With New Fiscal Year

For years public, academic, and special libraries have been submitting their interlibrary loan statistics to the State Library monthly. Submissions were delivered by mail, by fax, by email, and then by Survey Monkey via the web. Starting in July with the next fiscal year, libraries will be submitting one year-end report and will not be required to submit figures monthly.

In the case of public libraries, submissions will be made via the Annual Report and Survey that libraries fill out in the fall. For academic and special libraries, submissions will be made via the same Survey Monkey form, but the form will only be available in July of 2011 after the fiscal year has ended.

This should be less work for libraries and less duplication for public libraries since they had been required to submit ILL figures in both the monthly report forms and in the Annual Report. Those libraries who like to keep track of their ILL statistics on a monthly basis can download this ILL Statistics Worksheet. Academic and special library ILL staff can use the worksheet during the year and then fill out the Survey Monkey form in July. Public library ILL staff can use the worksheet during the year and then, in July, send the worksheet to whomever is responsible for filling out the Annual Report and Survey. Interlibrary Loans Soar in FY2009

Thanks go out to all the public, academic, and special libraries that provided their ILL data for this last fiscal year. The Connecticut Interlibrary Loan Activity, July 2008 – June 2009 report is now available. Download the pdf to get the complete version.

ILL activity is up, way up, especially in public libraries. Filled ILL requests jumped 28% from last year.

It’s Time to Finish Those Interlibrary Loan Reports

The State Library uses an ILL Survey Form to compile ILL activity by public, academic, and special libraries. Libraries will have until July 30 to complete their submissions for FY2009. Submissions for FY2008 resulted in a 2008 ILL Report that is now available as a PDF.

Libraries are encouraged to complete their monthly submissions for FY2009. Those libraries that haven’t submitted any monthly reports may submit one report for the entire year. Use the same form to do this.

The Connecticut Interlibrary Loan Activity, July 2007 – June 2008 report is now available on WebJunction Connecticut.

Data in this seventeenth annual compilation of Connecticut interlibrary loan activity is based on the monthly interlibrary loan reports received at the State Library from 160 public libraries, 29 academic libraries, and 4 special libraries during July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008. While this represents the majority of public and some academic libraries in the state, the report is not comprehensive.

To save on printing costs and trees, we will not be printing this report this year. For the first time, however, the complete report (rather than just a summary) is available on WebJunction CT.
