There is good news for all those Ccard reporters who have struggled with the clunky and somewhat temperamental Ccard report form. We have a NEW REPORT FORM which should be easier and quicker. We are using the same Bibliostat report software used with the Public Library Annual Report submitted in the fall. The new form should be ready within a week or two. Please hold on to your March Ccard stats until the new form is ready.
Library Directors will be receiving emails soon with information on the new report form web site and new User ID and Password that will be required to access the site.
Please contact me (tom.newman@ct.gov) with questions.
Connecticut public libraries lent 4,933,035 items to non-residents during the 2010-2011 year (which ended February 28). Despite a harsh winter, this was just under last year’s total, which was by far the highest total ever.
Information on the expected amount of 2011 payments to libraries, net-plus loans, and reports of loans and borrows is now available on the Connecticard web page.
Library Directors will be receiving email messages soon with information on
Thanks go out to all those libraries participating in the Connecticard program and to all those staff who fill out the monthly CCard forms.
The Connecticard reporting year ended with February and there are still about 80 public libraries who have not yet completed reports for all the months (March 2010 thru February 2011) in the Ccard year. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS FRIDAY, MARCH 18.
Libraries will not be reimbursed for all their direct non-resident loans unless their reports are submitted and certified on the online form by March 18. See Connecticard for more information, and contact Tom Newman at tom.newman@ct.gov if you have questions.
No, I haven’t been sleeping through the last two months (though I kind of wish I had). March 1st really is New Year’s Day for ConnectiCard. The ConnectiCard reporting period for public libraries runs from March to February. February 2011 brings to a close the reporting period for the 2010-2011. Make it your CCard New Year’s resolution to complete all your library’s reports for the past 12 months.
Go to http://www.cslib.org/ccard to enter non-resident Connecticard loans for each month from March 2010 through February 2011. Make sure each month’s report is accurate and “certified.”
In order to receive reimbursement for Connecticard loans for 2010-2011, please be sure you have entered your non-resident loans into the database by March 18th. The forms for March 2010- February 2011 will no longer be available after that date.

Governor Malloy has released his budget recommendations for the FY 2011-12 and 2012-13 fiscal years. The complete budget may be found at:
http://www.ct.gov/opm/lib/opm/budget/2012_2013_biennial_budget/education.pdf
The State Library budget begins on page 416.
There were two cuts in the budget:
Funding for Connecticar (listed as Interlibrary Loan Delivery Service) was eliminated. Half of this service is funded with federal dollars. This budget eliminates 6 positions and all state funding. This is a reduction of $281,392.
Funding for Connecticard was reduced from $1,256,679 to $521,545. This is a reduction of $704,483.
Grants to Public Libraries remains the same at $347,109.
Assuming there are no holdbacks next year the following three lines will be restored to their current services levels.
Connecticut Library Consortium is back to current services at $350,000.
iCONN is back to current services at $1,973,516.
reQuest is back at $674,696.
The rest of the State Library remains at current services levels.
There are no additional bonding funds for public library construction.
The results are in for the 2009-2010 ConnectiCard year. As has happened during previous economic downturns, CCard circulation and public library circulation in general went up substantially this year. Connecticut public libraries loaned nearly 5 million items to non-resident borrowers. This is a 5.3% increase over last year and by far the highest number for CCard loans.
Libraries should be receiving their reimbursement checks in the coming weeks. CCard funding remained stable this year at $1.2 million. Libraries will find information on the upcoming reimbursement payments, net-plus loans, and a report of loans and borrows on the ConnectiCard resource page.

The checks are in the mail! The State Library has calculated the reimbursement amounts for Connecticard loans for FY08, and has asked the State Comptroller to issue checks to those 176 public libraries who submitted their data. See the complete payment list, and if you are interested, see which libraries are net lenders.
