The State Library has received its budget allocations from the Office of Policy and Management for the coming fiscal year. The allocations are less than the appropriated amounts due to the same hold back process that we experienced last year. The hold backs are approximately the same as last year. See the announcement for details.
At the very end of the session amendments to three library statutes were passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor. These changes were attached to a school funding bill. Scroll down to the very end of the bill in Section 33.
The relevant sections are also available in the announcement. The changes expand the applicability of C.G.S. sections 11-32, 33 and 36 to include all municipalities as well as any form of municipal legislative body. Section 11-36 also makes it clear that direct tax levies may be applied to operating funds for an already existing library. These changes were a result of the advocacy from the Ferguson Library in Stamford.
