Tony Hawk Foundation grants for skatepark construction

By Douglas Lord | December 19th, 2009 | Comment?

501(c)(3) public charities, state or local agencies, and public school systems are among the nonprofits eligible for a Tony Hawk Foundation grant of up to $25,000 to create or develop high-quality public skateparks in low-income areas across the country. Application here.

Grants encourage and facilitate the design, development, construction, and operation of skateparks. The foundation may offer technical assistance related to design and construction, promotional materials, training materials, and safety information, and it may also facilitate support from vendors, suppliers, and community leaders.

Language on the site reads, “If your proposed skatepark is not located in a low-income area, if you are not able to illustrate strong community and grass-roots support for the project, and if your project does not meet the criteria listed above, you are unlikely to receive a significant grant from our foundation.”
