Are Public Libraries Really Busier? New Statistical Profile May Offer an Answer

By Tom Newman | December 16th, 2008 | Comment?

Recent news reports indicate that public libraries are busier than ever during our current recession.  In order to find out if that is really true in Connecticut, the State Library is making an early version of the Statistical Profile for Connecticut Public Libraries, 2008, available on WebJunction Connecticut.  Though the data is preliminary, the state-wide totals indicate a consistent uptick in public library use in Connecticut during the last fiscal year.

And starting January 1, 2009, the State Library will be setting up a brief survey where public libraries can enter some of their library use statistics for the first half of the 2009 Fiscal Year.  Please make the completion of this quick survey your first New Year’s Resolution for 2009!
